FEEL GOOD FOOD

This is my go to FEEL GOOD meal. You are what you eat. Food is your medicine. etc etc. You can eat this for breakfast, a snack or dessert...

Oh My Deliciousness....I eat this everyday no joke.

PLUS I did some research. SCIENCE says it's Feel Good too.

Walnuts - A study showed students who were given walnuts to eat for 6 weeks found their mood improved by 28%

Apple - Increases dopamine (the feel good neurotransmitter we get addicted too)

Tahini (made from sesame seeds) - high in tryptophan which helps produce serotonin which is another neurotransmitter that makes you feel good (there is a connection between low levels of serotonin and depression).

Flax seeds provide omega-3 fatty acids which can help lift your mood and combat depression

Chia seeds - more tryptophan and omega-3!! Hey it also helps you sleep better.

Maple syrup - sugar makes you feel like crap. Maple syrup is 100% plant based meaning your body can process it's sweet goodness without the sugar high and crash. Just make sure it's 100% maple syrup and not the flavoured kind.


INGREDIENTS AND METHOD IN ONE

Put into a bowl:

  • 1 of your favourite apples in bite sized cunks (I like Pink Lady)
  • 1/3 cup walnuts
  • 1 tablespoon of chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of flax seed
  • 1 table spoon of tahini (or use good peanut butter if you are not a tahini fan) 
  • 1 table spoon of maple syrup (ok sometimes I put in 2)

    Mix it up and eat that deliciousness with no food guilt whatsoever - it's got fibre, nutrients, is plant based, healthy and whole. :)
